KISMET

Kismet, a new book by Monica Burns, is published by Berkley Books. The book has an exotic flavor that I wanted to get across, something about Asia, opium and subterfuge, with a lavish overlay of sexual desire. I chose colors that are reminiscent of India, hot, dusty, beautiful, and contrasted the light blue gauzy dress the woman is almost wearing, to be a cool diagonal flow across the hot palette. What do you think? Does it work?

I adore this painting. Absolutely stunning. I saw the actual book as an upcoming release and immediately it was the cover that caught my eye.

Beautiful work.

Absolutely. Works!
As soon as I saw the picture I did not need to read the post to understand that it was the cover of a novel exotic. The contrast between the yellow and the sky is amazing and the dress of the woman seems a river that crosses a golden land.
Very nice James!

Thanks Eleni, I'm so glad you liked it! Do you know many authors there in Australia? I see that you follow a lot of romance blogs. Cheers!

James, I'm quite active in the romance writing community in Australia and know quite a few authors indeed. I'm actually running a month long celebration of writing on my blog -

and my website
http://elenikonstantine.com

And have many authors joining me who I consider friends, including Denise Rossetti - whose The Flame & The Shadow cover is a favourite of mine.

I think it's gorgeous; love the unusual POV. Something about the lines around their heads and the color of the blue dress make me think it's sort of paranormal, angels, perhaps.
